Information concerning the time of entry to school is published in the Suffolk County Council “Information for Parents and Lists of Schools” booklet (a copy is available in the office or from the link at the bottom of this page). We have an admissions number of 60 and all 4 year old children start full time in September.
At the age of 11, children leave us for secondary school. Our catchment area school is IES Breckland; however this does not prevent you applying to other schools. Some of our pupils transfer to Mildenhall College of Technology and Iceni Academy (Methwold). You will have opportunity to visit these schools on an open day before applying. Information about open days will be found on the schools' websites listed below. Further information is set out in the “Information for Parents” booklet. When your child changes school at 11 a copy of his/her assessment record is sent to the new school along with any other relevant information, for example Reading Level, SATs scores, assessment records, school reports. We also meet with staff from the secondary school to explain our pupils' needs. There are always transition days which provide opportunity for pupils to visit their new school and are likely to be additional transition days for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
The 1980 Education Act allows parents much more freedom in the selection of schools for their children, although for a variety of reasons parents are encouraged to send their children to their local school. We would advise all parents of children about to start school to visit both Glade and other schools and talk to the Headteachers before making a decision.
