The children at Glade school have been looking at the iconic MINI car. Within each of the seven classes in school (age range 4-11 years) the children worked in small groups looking at different aspects of design for this popular car. Each group created a design sheet and each class made a simple 3D model of a MINI, bringing together the 5 design ideas. The finished work was put together to create a large display in the school hall.
Our inspiration for this idea came from the MINI mounted on the outside wall of the Carrs showroom at Bury St Edmunds. The children had a real treat when Carrs became involved a sent a real MINI to the school playground for the children to experience.
The children have learnt a lot during this project and for our older pupils especially, the project has linked to their thoughts about future career choices and the world of work.
